In the heart of Manhattan, the newspaper and publishing house New York Times has commissioned a new headquarters. Star-architect Renzo Piano conceptualized a 52-storey tower, in addition to a 5-storey “Podium” with an auditorium for 350 guests, a courtyard garden, as well as bounteous shop floors at ground floor level.

Seele provides all internal and external façades at ground floor level, four windscreens with "balanced doors“, all glazed canopies and the supporting structures for the building’s complex lighting installation.

The external façades are implemented with the help of an outer steel load carrying system, which results in above-average demands on corrosion prevention and sealing of the façade. The glazing of the external façade itself is made of ESG/VSG double glazing with a heat resistant lamination.

Wind and weather impacts were simulated on a model under extreme conditions, plotted precisely and approved together with the design team.
