Plot 7, located in the heart of London not far from the Thames and Tower Bridge, will form the new core of the More London Riverside district.
Together with the architects of Foster & Partners, seele will design engineer and execute the glazed façade works. The project includes approximately 18,600 square meters/200,000 square feet of aluminum curtain wall, 2,000 square meters/21,500 square feet of stick mullion glazing and 1,500 square meters/16,150 square feet of custom skylight glazing. The lion’s portion of the project will be done with prefabricated façade elements. The “folded” or “zigzag” geometry of most of the façade elements defines the architectural image of the project. In addition, the aluminum curtain wall will receive projecting frames that hold vertical extruded aluminum shades.
At the back elevation of the building there is the so-called “rucksack” that will also be done with pre-fabricated aluminum curtain wall elements, but here with a flat, “smooth” geometry and bronze coloured vertical shades.
